Let’s talk for a hot second about my 2nd favorite month. (No worries, I only have 2 favorite months not 12 so you won’t get this again until October, which is my 1st favorite). So about my 2nd favorite month…
Most people don’t like February and I think for unjust reasons. Sure, you’re sick of Winter, the cold sucks sometimes, there’s nothing to do…blah, blah, blah.
You’re missing the point.
There is always (in Western NY, at least) one last hoorah for Winter in February and as I love snow, this is my final major snow storm of the season and I love it. LOVE it. And it’s supposed to happen tomorrow. February isn’t making me wait this year. :) It means Spring is just around the corner. There is so much to look forward to in this change of seasons: flowers, sunshine and longer days – which, might I add, is finally becoming recognizable this month.
February is also the month I celebrate 2 of the favorite males in my life. Eddie was adopted on Valentine’s Day of 2006 (total coincidence, story later) and Jerry was born on the 15th.
Not only do I get to celebrate him as a person, I also get to celebrate our love for each other as our dating (and now engagement) anniversary is the 7th.
Keeping it personal, February is pretty much my January. I give myself the actual January to sluff off while everyone else is tying up their bootstraps and getting “back on track,” and by February they’ve given up. This is where I begin.
You see, avoiding the January rush to improve on the “new” me allows me to avoid the end of January slump that everyone feels. I can’t jump on the, “everyone quit so I’m quitting, too” mentality b/c I only just began!
Last year, I lost 30 lbs by changing my eating habits ALONE. Today, February 1, 2011, I’ve decided to (and begun) changing my exercise habits (boOoring). I’ve also recently started my attack-every-room-in-the-house-to-purge-our-space-of-unwanted-clutter campaign AND made major headway on our wedding. Our wedding. Weeeird.
Your tax return is coming up, travel is more affordable and need I remind you the Steelers are winning the Super Bowl this month?
In conclusion, I think you need to feel the year out. See how it’s starting and go with the flow once you’ve got it. That’s what I plan to do and it’s what I have begun. February is my start fresh month and that’s why I love it so. :)
Hey! What’s your favorite month and, more importantly, why?
